    Hey Mark,

Great job on the transcription! Brad is one of my favorite modern-day improvisers, so I appreciate your work! I’m about to try playing along with his solo and cop some licks! 🙂

    Best wishes and thanks again…

I love this, and plan to play it at an audition at birmingham conservatoire. Left hand voicings/ comping rhythms?

  • Mark Baynes Says:

No left hand voicings or comping rhythms, it’s the RH only, I don’t want to do all of the work for you!!

  • Chris Says:

    Hey Mark,
thank you for your great transcription!
I have jazz-pianists as teachers for my “job” as pianist in a school-bigband (Germany)and so I know, how much work it tucks for transcriptions.

Wow- really cool transcription. Fun to follow along with Brad’s playing on “Art of the Trio.” Gave me a whole ear and head full of “stuff” sort out this week as I do my practice. I’m a huge Mehldau listener, and this helps “decode” some of what he’s doing. What sensibilities he has! Thanks again for posting this! Aloha!

  • Robyn Says:

Thanks so much for putting this out there. I’m planning an arrangement for my quartet (guitar/bass/drums/soprano sax) based on Brad’s interpretation, and finding this transcription had been extremely helpful. All the best from the western-most part of the West Island.
    Cheers,
    Rob

I’m planning to perform this tune with a trio at the university where I’m studying jazz piano. Thank you so much for making this transcription available. Brad truly makes the piano sing on this tune, and I hope that I can learn how to do the same.

Thanks for the blackbird solo sheet. I will give it a try. I have been playing Erin Craigs version but the solo is a bit different. Will try this one.

    Cheers
